Currently in Uganda there is a big debate on homosexuality, gender identity, punitive and harsh laws are being deliberated upon in parliament.

Homophobia and hate crime, Bullying, Prostitution, Drug and Alcohol abuse are often seen before; HIV/AIDS/STDs/STIs in MSM/S students are still the highest according to available statistics.

KLUG is a volunteer-run organization. We are called Elements because we work as team, and because we are connected by our passion to create changes in our MSM/S student’s community.

Many MSM/S students have issues regarding sexuality and gender who need to come together in social groups to share experience and counseling.

KLUG recognized the fact that, there is a missing link which we must harmonies for a safe space and information purposes regarding our security, access to health care and capacity building.

We are aware of other MSM/S organizations that we need to network with and complement our objectives as grass root organization for a better service delivery and resource mobilization to our most at risk population.

How we began, Kampus Liberty Uganda has been working with MSM/S University students in Uganda since the starting of this organization on 16th December 2009 when we started working in Makerere and Nkumba universities since then we have expanded over 5 universities in Uganda as part of our long term commitment in the struggle for the liberty of minorities especially MSM/S students in Uganda.

Klug started as Kuchu love Uganda, Kuchu love the name was coming from what we were looking for love and friendship for all just like any other human beings, the Board decided to come out with Kampus liberty Uganda to run our work better

People had so many doubts a bout the existence of Kuchulove Uganda; So many questions were Rosen, for example, Kuchulove a dating organization?  Was it for lovers? What kind of people does it cater for? For security purpose, coordinating, collaborating, accessing for funds, networking and partnership, we had problems doing all these with the name Kuchulove Uganda.

In general, at lest we came up with a suitable name that people can quickly understand, the name that is in the line with what we do.
