KAMPUS LIBERTY UGANDA (KLUG)

USE YOUR LIBERTY TO PROMOTE OURS

BACKGROUND

Currently in Uganda there is big debate on homosexuality and gender identity, Penal code, section 145,148 criminalizes same sex acts and acts against the order of nature.  Article 31 of Uganda constitution clause 2(a) prohibits same sex marriage. Equal opportunities act 2006 does not protect sexual minorities in section 15(6). Anti Homosexual Act 2014 signed by President Yowel Kaguta Museven President Of the Republic of Uganda  Anti- homosexuality bill 2009 , Anti Homosexual Passed on 20  December 2013  is intended to broaden the criminalization of same sex relation by introducing life imprisonment.

It is against this background that, we are here to address Human Rights as the biggest Limitation to the lives of GBT, MSMs and MSWs persons.

KLUG recognized the fact that, there is a missing link which we must fulfill by organizing, empowering GBT, MSM and MSWs students with much needed information and comfort, skills, trainings and education information On Human Rights.

We are aware of other GBT, MSM and MSW organizations but we only need to complement our efforts.

Vision To advocate for the health rights and access to justice for all marginalized/stigmatized GBT, MSM and MSW students in and after Universities, colleges and tertiary institutions because of their gender identity (sexual orientation) as part of economic, social and political life without discrimination in Uganda.

Mission To have an increased human rights protection, through advocacy and awareness campaigns to stake holders that include: medical practitioners, labour unions, religious organizations, media houses, policy makers and the general public.
